ARCHITECTING BIOREGENERATION™

What is Bioregeneration

Bioregeneration is an emerging area of science that explores how the body’s own regenerative processes may support the restoration of tissue structure and function over time.
Conexeu is evaluating the potential of its CXU™ extracellular matrix platform to help advance this new approach to aesthetic tissue restoration.

CXU™ is investigational. Safety and effectiveness have not been established.

HOW BIOREGENERATION WORKS

A Regenerative Framework

Tissue regeneration is a coordinated biological process often described through the interplay of cells, biochemical signals, and an ECM structural scaffold environment.

Cells and signals play essential roles, white a scaffold can add a structural component that many current medical aesthetic injectables do not directly supply.

Rendered cluster of rounded translucent cells, each with a gold nucleus visible inside, two drifting away from the group
Cells

The biological drivers involved in forming and maintaining tissue.

Rendered fibroblast releasing a cloud of gold signalling molecules that diffuse toward neighbouring fibroblasts and bind at receptors on their membranes
Signals

The biochemical messages that help guide cellular behavior.

Rendered porous white scaffold cube, a regular lattice whose open pores are spanned by a fine fibrous network, with one gold fibre running through it
Scaffold

The structural framework that may help support cells, tissue organization and biological remodeling.

The Evolution of Aesthetics

Only Bioregeneration Features an Extracellular Matrix to Support a Comprehensive Process.

Each category is designed to address specific aspects of tissue structure or biology. Bioregeneration introduces a different approach, bringing structural support together with the body’s own regenerative processes.

WHY IT MATTERS

A Foundation for Bioregeneration

Tissue structure matters. The extracellular matrix, or ECM, provides part of the frameworkthrough which tissue develops, repairs and remodels. A scaffold is designed toprovide temporary structure while biological activity and tissue interaction occur.

For Conexeu, bioregeneration brings that structural foundation together with four requirements.

The Bioregeneration Framework

Rendered white truss scaffold with an irregular, wound-shaped footprint and a notch, carrying a smooth, even dome of volume on top
Immediate structural support and volume

Physical structure and volumizing support at the time of placement.

Rendered white scaffold cube pressed against gold host tissue, fibroblasts migrating into its pores and spreading along the struts as host collagen grows across the boundary
Tissue integration

The potential to interact with and become incorporated into the surrounding tissue environment.

Rendered cube in transition, open white scaffold lattice on the left progressively replaced by wavy gold collagen laid down by fibroblasts, struts thinning where the new tissue grows
Biological remodeling

An environment that may support tissue remodeling over time.

Rendered cube of gold host tissue with fibroblasts resident in it, the last white scaffold fragments at one corner crumbling away to fine particles
No permanent implanted scaffold

Structural support designed to provide temporary support and then gradually reabsorb.

‍While existing injectable categories may satisfy one or more of these requirements, none may meet all four. This unmet need may open the door to a new paradigm in tissue restoration: bioregeneration.

Growing Demand

Tissue Loss Is Becoming More Visible and More Complex

Aging, injury and significant weight loss may affect more than surface appearance. They can alter volume, structure and tissue quality across the face and body. The growing adoption of GLP-1 medications is reshaping the aesthetics landscape. As more people experience significant weight loss, interest is growing in approaches designed for facial and body tissue restoration at a different scale. This may require more than additional volume. It may require a new way to think about tissue restoration.
